I am alr...I can't WAIT to start homeschooling!! I am already researching curriculums, and want to attend some conferences...!
I have a feeling that as time goes by, and God willing more children come, I'll be more and more content and more challenged - in a good way.
Freedom is a great way to describe it - that's how I'm experiencing it right now too.Marthahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08714449213406057138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7263642629706813925.post-30658766125436849052013-05-02T17:01:48.483-04:002013-05-02T17:01:48.483-04:00I've been a SAHM for about 11 years now, with ...I've been a SAHM for about 11 years now, with many of those years being a WAHM..but never working outside the home really and I have to say that I think being a SAHM helps me use my brain "more" and expand it in different ways than if I had stayed in the workforce. I pretty much got married 2 weeks after earning my master's degree in reproductive physiology and then worked for a year or so at teaching in a Catholic school (so NOTHING to do with my degree) before having my first and then mostly staying home (I did work for 2 months after she was born, but I took her to work with me every day). I know if I had stayed in a career that my master's is in, my brain expansion and learning would have been limited to that field. Yes, I would be using my brain..but only in one subject or area. While, as a SAHM, I have the freedom to learn new things, explore new ideas. I'm pretty sure I know a lot more about nutrition and alternative medicine and home remedies than I ever would have known if I had stayed working as I wouldn't have had the time or interest learning about. Plus, I've explored other interests like sewing, writing, gardening...things I'm pretty sure I never would have learned about if I had stayed working, as I wouldn't have had dthe time or energy. And, homeschooling adds a whole new dimension...I'm learning a whole lot more about history and other subjects from homeschooling than I ever learned during my years in school.
